Good news for residents of Montana and beyond — the state is setting a great precedent with a new court dedicated specifically to expunging marijuana convictions. As decriminalization efforts continue to grow and spread, more resources like this will be essential. Montana is prioritizing something that will benefit the state and its communities in the long run.
In international news, it’s worth keeping an eye on this story coming out of Costa Rica. The country’s highest court found nothing unconstitutional in the current proposal set to start the conversation about legalizing cannabis — meaning things are now back in the hands of the legislature. Elsewhere in the global conversation, Germany is in the news. Based on a report from Investing Daily, Germany could be poised to be the new European capital for marijuana. The cannabis culture is different in Europe — for many, the fact that it is still illegal in many places is actually part of the appeal. This complicates things for growers, distributors, and people keeping an eye on the potential socio-economic impact of the industry. Will Germany continue to grow, and maybe move towards some safer legalization efforts? Time will tell.

The Pizza Company, a restaurant chain in Thailand, is selling a “Crazy Happy Pizza.” Customers may choose toppings for their pie which is then finished off with a deep-fried cannabis leaf. Recreational cannabis is still illegal in Thailand, so the pie won’t get you high, but there’s a chance you may feel drowsy after consuming. Would you try the Crazy Happy Pizza?
If your business employs drivers, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has advice for you. Due to state legalization laws, it’s getting harder for workplaces to have a zero-tolerance policy. While it is recommended that employees should not consume cannabis during work hours, or show up high, testing for THC is a difficult process due to how long the plant stays in the body. There is still a lot of work to be done to determine the crash risk of driving while impaired.
2/3s of Americans believe cannabis should be legal. Led by celebrities Seth Rogen and Sarah Silverman, this effort is spearheaded by HeadCount’s Cannabis Voter Project with support from the U.S. Cannabis Council. Through the Cannabis in Common website, users can select their state to view their Senators’ stance on federal legalization.
